  Weekly Meeting Importance Being Reduced - Your Thoughts?

  i am pimo, but now have 40+ years of being a jw as i was raised in a 3rd generation family of witnesses and continue to fake my way through things - fading as i can.. for the vast majority of my time as a jw, the meetings were the central focus for all jws to get teaching, association, information and so on.

  nothing was more important than being at the meetings!

  over the last 20 years starting with the elimination of the weekly book study in homes and continuing down to today - my opinion is that the value/purpose of the weekly meetings continues to be diluted or minimized.

  That bookstudy was the meeting with no tie. Actually a get together of sorts. they ran out of people with homes to use, got worried about liability. The saving gasoline was the biggest lie ever. The names became a formality thing.

  I can daydream at meeting anyway, zoom just enables it a bit.

  Midweek is the most tedious meeting. Unrealistic skits and videos. I wish for a way to project the mystery 3000 audience on the screen. remember when announcements were in the middle of the "2" meetings? I used to wait just long enough to hear them and then left along with several others. I had a job and kids had school. Now you have to wait to the bitter end to hear the poorest reader they have tell about the liberry and pitchers. He even actually said mono- tone- us.

  why wasn’t judah punished for sleeping withtamar?

  even though she had the legal right to an offspring by his family he still thought he was sleeping with a prostitute.

  if it is wrong to even think of having relations with a woman similar to the “sin” of watching pornography why wouldn’t what judah did be wrong?

  This week covers Joseph being moral. No mention of the possibility she was ugly, or the realest thing: bumping the bosses wife is always a bad idea.

  my forst posting here so i apologize in advance if this is not in the correct place.. a tribute to ray franz (on what would have been his 98th birthday) and to ed dunlap, his collaborator.

  last week would have marked the 98th birthday of a man for whom most of us here have high regard.

  Another heart-worming story

  today, i got an email from an old friend with a story told by brother andre ramseyer who attended training at patterson in england.

  a service dog regularly attended the meetings with his owner.

  when the owner passed away, the dog was given to another blind man.

  How does this mesh with the direction to not bring service dogs to conventions? Might give kids something to look forward to

  Trying to get my head around these go bags

  when i was looking at prepping back in the 90s i was told by several elders that we needed to just rely on the org and jehovah and not prep.

  i started to put away vacuum sealed bags of rice beans and spices anyway.

  now they have this go bag crap.

  People in general are ill equipped to leave home in a hurried energency. FEMA also recommends go bags and the WT is following their guidelines. It is not an idea Jehovah came up with.

  In reality the help comes from neighbors, churches, and governments. Disasters do not cooperate with timing so dad will be at work, kids at school, mom wherever like her work. what to take comes down to needing a go trailer with the list .

  Reel to reel tapes and old Watchtower literature

  it's been an emotional few weeks going through old watchtower literature, i mean old.

  i have saved many things, some you have never seen.

  particularly related to 1975, i have wts literature, even a big newspaper article about the 1975 prediction.. today, i started going through the reel to reel tapes.

  I have an old tape somewhere from dad given him by a cousin. When I played it it was a meeting of apostates in Nebraska in the 50s. My family has roots back to Russell. Too bad it doesnt even give bragging rights or a line on the " truth"

  They just played the natural disaster video, complete with the donating part. Then made the comment that if we need help go to the " secular authorities ".

  We are supposed to report any symptoms ??? Is this catchy over zoom? The local herbalist sister is possibly the only help if you mistrust the doctors .

  Remember doing rooming work? Asking for accomodations from strangers for strangers. I still cringe.

  Dad and Mom would have out of town friends stay with us the few times we were blessed with a local convention instead of having to travel. 3 extra families, all with kids, one bathroom. Cots in the living room, yard, blankets on the floor.
